Vogue ( the fashion Bible) vs The Bible

Ok so I have to be honest, I read Vogue almost as much as I read and study my Bible. Sad but true! I'm inspired by the innovative yet timeless fashions; and captivated by the flawless models throughout the magazine. Almost every girl I know is guilty of flipping through a magazine and saying or thinking something along the lines of, "I need those shoes in my life!" or "I want her hair!" or "I wish my stomach was that flat!" From Dior, Valentino, and Gabbana to McQueen, Wang, and Saint Laurent, the media classifies Vogue, and everyone to grace it's pages as perfection!

The media says you have to be wearing designer brands to fit in or stand out.

Tall and thin is beautiful.

You have to wear makeup to cover up your imperfections... but if you don't, there's always photoshop :o)

The media says expensive clothes, a beautiful face, and a perfect body validates you...

 But what does God say?

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭3-4‬ NIV)

what I want mostly is for men to pray—not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God. And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it. (‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭8-10‬ MSG)

But GOD told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. GOD judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; GOD looks into the heart.” (‭1 Samuel‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬ MSG)

Real beauty comes from within! God is concerned with our hearts not our outward appearance. We can be dressed head to toe in designer clothing, and have the most beautiful face and body ever, but none of that means anything unless our hearts and attitude are pleasing to God. Don't get me wrong, I love fashion, makeup, and all things girly however, I choose to live by God's definition of beauty because it pleases Him and pleasing God is my #1 goal!

I challenge all of you lovely ladies to think of (comment and share below) three ways to enhance your beauty!

Here are my 3

1. Spend more time with God (reading my bible and praying)

2. Honor, encourage, and love on my hubby (he's the best!)

3. Be the best mommy I can be to my two beautiful babies!

I am beautiful and so are you!!!!!!
